BIO

The Kings of Cool are from the small town of Ballyshannon in Co. Donegal, Ireland.

Michael Christie, singer-songwriter and producer is the driving force of the band, along with long-time friends, songwriters, and established musicians, Jason Kelly and Stephen Gallager.

The band writes songs individually and collectively, mainly in the classic guitar pop tradition with added shades of country and jazz. Influences include The Beatles, Nick Lowe, Waylon Jennings, Steely Dan, Squeeze, and The Eagles among others.

In their time, Michael and the others have toured all over Europe and have played in venues including The Olympia and the Bataclan in Paris, The Zwarte Cross Festival in Holland, and Moods Rock and Blues Venue in Monaco. They also shared the stage with ZZ Top, Super Tramp, Status Quo, Alan Parsons Project, and more.

Back in Ireland, the band has clocked up a number of TV appearances, including The Late Late Show, and radio airplay on stations all over the country, both regional and on RTE Radio 1 and 2FM. There have also been newspaper and magazine reviews in The Sunday World, The Irish Independent, and Hot Press.

The Kings of Cool are continually writing and recording new music and have built up a large body of new songs over the last year.  A number of singles have been released and were well received both on radio and social media platforms. They are presently gearing up to launch a new album in early 2022.

The band was already established as a live attraction before the pandemic, and of course, are keen to get back out and gigging as soon as possible!
